One of the more common dental services available at Janz Family Dental is dental fillings. Usually, fillings are used to fill in cavities, but they can also be used to repair cracked or broken teeth. Teeth that have been worn down from nail biting, tooth grinding, or a similar issue can also use dental fillings to correct them. Fillings improve both the look and functionality of your smile. 

When it comes to performing a filling, your dentist first numbs the area around the tooth to be corrected. If the tooth has a cavity, the decay will be removed and then the area will be filled in with a type of filling material. Many types of filling materials exist including composite resin, amalgam, gold, and ceramics. Amalgam is often made of mercury or silver and does not blend with your natural tooth colour; however, it is the cheapest of the materials. Composite resin and ceramics can be tooth coloured and blend with your natural teeth, but are often more expensive than amalgam fillings. You can discuss with your dentist which type of filling is right for you.
